4 April 2024
IQOQO is thrilled to be partnering with yet another First Thursdays at Silo District on the 4th of April 2024, for a panel discussion that starts at 17:00. With the sponsorship of American Express, which is operated in South Africa under license by Nedbank, the First Thursdays cultural experience will take place across the Cape Town Creative Academy, Southern Guild, and Zeitz MOCAA.
Starting at the Cape Town Creative Academy is the Commercialising Creativity: Business Acumen for Artists and Cultural Entrepreneurs panel discussion moderated by Jess Wright (Head of Mentoring of Business Acumen for Artists course at the Cape Town Creative Academy). The discussion features Nene Mahlangu, who is a multidisciplinary artist and one of five winners of the 2023 Amex ZA Graphic Arts Challenge – an exciting initiative for graphic artists, illustrators and designers in South Africa. Her artwork sets the visual identity of this First Thursdays event.
Artist Bonolo Kavula will also join the panel. A graduate of the Business Acumen for Artists course, Kavula was awarded the Norval Sovereign African Art Prize in 2021. Kavula’s work has shown at SMAC Gallery, Norval Foundation and Art Basel in Miami and Switzerland.
Khensani Nobanda, Group Executive: Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Nedbank, will also join the panel to discuss the role that corporates can play in the creative economy, and how American Express is supporting the arts community by enabling opportunities for its Card Members.
Lara Rosmarin, the Head of Entrepreneur Development and Incubation at UVU Accelerate, is the final panellist. As Head of UVU Accelerate, Rosmarin fuels a future-fit society through technology and innovation. UVU Accelerate has been tasked with running the Creation Africa incubation and mentorship programme.
**Plus – all guests who attend the panel discussion will stand the chance to win one of five sets of double tickets for the Amex VIP catered experience at Zeitz MOCAA.
Commercialising Creativity: Business Acumen for Artists and Cultural Entrepreneurs is hosted by IQOQO at the Cape Town Creative Academy, in partnership with Business Acumen for Artists, Creative Leadership Consultancy, American Express and First Thursdays at the Silo District.
