BMW Art Generation returns to Nirox Sculpture Park in Kromdraai for its second edition on 2 November 2024, promising a day filled with art, music, fashion, and culinary delights.
At the heart of this year’s event is a compelling conversation between two remarkable painters: the legendary Mmakgabo Helen Sebidi and contemporary artist Thenjiwe Niki Nkosi. Their discussion, moderated by Smithsonian National Museum of African Art curator Janine Gaëlle Dieudji, will explore painting as a practice of liberation.
The event offers an immersive experience with guided art walkabouts through the sculpture park and exclusive studio visits. The musical programme features the smooth sounds of Kopano Jazz Collective, SAMA-nominated Kujenga, and headline performer, the incomparable Thandiswa Mazwai.
Fashion enthusiasts can explore collections from leading South African designers BOYDE, VIVIERS, NAO SERATI, and UNI FORM by Luke Radloff. For food lovers, an impressive lineup of vendors includes Lara the Food Goddess, Lucky Bread, Jack Rabbit, Forest Gelato, Glory, Il Contadino, and Soul Souvlaki.
This celebration of African creativity brings together established and emerging artists, curators, and art enthusiasts in one of Gauteng’s most picturesque settings.
Tickets are R400, including access to live music performances, talks, and full entry to Nirox Sculpture Park. Book your spot at https://tickets.tixsa.co.za/event/the-bmw-art-generation
